"I have heard stories of several traffic stops that turned deadly because the driver was moving around while the police officer approached," said an inventor from Capital Heights, Md. "To keep all documents readily accessible for the officer to examine, I came up with this idea."

He created the prototype for the HANDS UP/ARMS UP I.D. WALLET to provide a convenient place to store a driver’s license, registration and insurance card. It keeps all documents readily visible and accessible for a police officer. The accessory eliminates the need for the driver to move around after being pulled over in order to retrieve needed items from the glove compartment or elsewhere. The design enables the driver to keep both hands on the steering wheel throughout the traffic stop. This helps ease the mind of an approaching police officer. Additionally, all of this is designed to make routine traffic stops safer, less stressful and easier on both parties.

The original design was submitted to the Washington D.C. office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
