Seminar given today by Ron Norman, CEO of Team Decades (http://www.teamdecades.com), instructs job candidates on the difference between job openings and job opportunities and how to make the most of a job search.
"It may seem counter-intuitive, even nonsensical, to tell a job candidate that they should not be looking for job openings," says Norman, "but the truth is that looking for job openings will inevitably result in less-than-satisfactory results." Norman encouraged the assembled executives to consider a different perspective.
"With a typical job opening, everything is defined by the job itself regardless of who fills the position including compensation, which may seem to many as it should be," explained Norman. "However, consider a job that is defined by the urgency of a problem or situation that a potential employer is needing to handle. In such a case, the job takes on a larger scope and the sort of individual offering the qualities necessary to solve problems merits greater authority and, let's be frank, enhanced compensation." Team Decades targets need in the engagement process.
