“Novant Health exists to improve the health of our communities." - Laura Holby, manager of Social Responsibility for Novant Health.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (PRWEB) February 01, 2018
Novant Health Social Responsibility recently granted over $750,000 to local nonprofit organizations in the Winston-Salem area. Over the past year, the social responsibility team sought proposals from community nonprofit organizations needing funds to support health and human services, the environment and education. This January, local nonprofit organizations received funds for yearlong programming and for programs occurring between January and June 2018.
“Novant Health exists to improve the health of our communities,” said Laura Holby, manager of Social Responsibility for Novant Health. “Our commitment extends beyond our hospitals and clinics because we recognize the importance of working with local organizations to make our community a better place to live and work. Through these partnerships, we believe we can really impact the health of our communities.”
Novant Health Social Responsibility was particularly interested in nonprofit organizations that address identified health needs in the community and work to improve outcomes. These new key areas of interest received funding:
- Health and human services agencies, for promoting wellness, healing and treatment in response to identified community health needs
- Environmental groups, for supporting safe and clean communities
- Education groups, for building the pipeline for the future health care workforce
This is the first time Novant Health Social Responsibility has established a biannual request-for-proposal process from community organizations. The second funding submission cycle will open June 1 and close July 15 for nonprofit organizations seeking funds for programs between July and December 2018.
