Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Southern California Urges Men and Women to Undergo Inflammation Testing in Conjunction with Heart Health Month
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) February 13, 2018 -- In keeping with Heart Health month, Dr. Allan Kurtz, Founder of the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Southern California in Woodland Hills is urging all men and women to undergo inflammation testing to assess their risk for heart attack or stroke.
“The most recent clinical studies, clearly demonstrate that one of the best ways to prevent the risk of heart attack is through reducing inflammation. Unfortunately, most people in reasonably good health, assume that they aren’t at risk for heart attack, because they are at a healthy weight, exercise regularly, and eat a well-balanced, nutritious diet. However, inflammation is a silent but deadly risk factor, that can affect even seemingly healthy individuals, and can only be identified through specific testing,” Dr. Kurtz said.
For decades, much attention has been paid to the dangers of plaque and cholesterol buildup within the arteries. Known as atherosclerosis— which President Trump’s physician recently revealed he has—this dangerous narrowing of the arteries certainly contributes to heart disease and heart attacks. Yet, it is it is only recently that studies have shown that while the buildup is certainly dangerous; the injuries to the arteries may be even worse. “Cholesterol and calcium deposits doesn’t just narrow your arteries,” Dr. Kurtz explained. “The deposits of calcium for example, actually injure the arteries, causing an inflammatory response. This inflammation is unquestionably responsible for countless heart attacks each year.”
Continuing Dr. Kurtz said, “Heart disease is the number one killer of men and women. It is responsible for nearly 1 million deaths each year. Men and women can’t afford to remain in the dark any longer.”
Dr. Kurtz’s recommended tests for men and women, include a CT Scan of the Coronary Arteries, a Carotid Artery Intimal Thickness Ultrasound (CIMT Neck Ultrasound), along with specific inflammatory biomarker testing, including testing for High Sensitivity C-reactive Protein (HS-CRP).
Founded by Board Certified physician Dr. Allan Kurtz, D.O., the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Southern California emphasizes the reduction of inflammation as a vital component to any health, wellness and longevity plan. “Science is never settled, and as more evidence becomes available regarding heart health, it is clear that inflammation is a far better indicator of overall health, than simply measuring cholesterol levels,” Kurtz said.
Inflammation testing, advanced lipid testing, Carotid Artery Intimal Thickness Ultrasound, and CT Scans of Coronary Arteries are all available through the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Southern California in Woodland Hills.
