There is a critical unmet need for eating disorders services at multiple levels of care in Georgia and the Southeastern United States.

Veritas Collaborative, a specialty healthcare system for the treatment of eating disorders, has announced the construction of a new hospital in Atlanta dedicated to multidisciplinary care for children, adolescents and young adults up to age 21 with eating disorders. The hospital is the first of its kind in Georgia and surrounding states. Over 30 million Americans suffer from eating disorders.

“There is a critical unmet need for eating disorders services at multiple levels of care in Georgia and the Southeastern United States. The addition of a third hospital in our system serves to move Veritas closer to our vision – a world in which persons with eating disorders and their families have access to best practice care and hold hope for a cure,” said Stacie McEntyre, founder, president and CEO of Veritas Collaborative. “We are very pleased with the support received from business and civic leaders, as well as the eating disorders community, to bring our hospital to Atlanta.”

Opening in summer 2018, Veritas’ new hospital, a 62,980-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, will be located at 41 Perimeter Center East in Dunwoody. The 50 bed hospital will provide inpatient, residential and partial hospitalization services. The existing Veritas medical and outpatient facility located in Dunwoody will continue to provide multidisciplinary outpatient – medical, psychiatric, psychotherapy and nutrition – and intensive outpatient services to ensure patients have access to the full spectrum of Veritas Collaborative care.

With the addition of the new hospital, Veritas will have opened a total of six facilities treating eating disorders since its inception in 2012 – a 40-bed child and adolescent hospital in Durham, a 25-bed adult hospital in Durham, two medical and outpatient facilities: Atlanta and Richmond, Virginia which provides multidisciplinary outpatient, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization services for children, adolescents and adults. In January 2018, another medical and outpatient facility opened in Charlotte, North Carolina to treat children, adolescents and young adults up to age 24.

“Veritas is committed to driving the standard of care in eating disorders treatment through a collaborative community so individuals and families can thrive”, added McEntyre, “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those devastated by eating disorders.”
