Associate Maureen “Morty” Cassidy recently spoke at St. Peter the Apostle School’s "Career Day," hosted by the Children’s Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia (CSFP). Ms. Cassidy spoke to kids in grades 5-8 about her job at Pond Lehocky, her day-to-day activities, and her favorite things about being an attorney.
For the last year, Ms. Cassidy has volunteered her time and skills to CSFP, joining with other young professionals to educate and empower local kids through guidance and mentoring. The organization provides Philadelphia children from low-income families access to quality K-8th grade schooling and the educational resources to succeed, both economically and socially. They currently sponsor 5,200 children across 170 different schools.
“The Children’s Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia is important to me because I would not have been able to reach my goals if not for the education I was lucky enough to have. I want these kids to have all of the opportunities possible in order to reach their own goals, and that’s what this organization helps to do,” Ms. Cassidy said.
Career Day presenters traveled from class to class, speaking to the kids and answering questions about their careers and ways to succeed and accomplish their goals.
“It was great to see so many young students engaged and curious about their future,” Ms. Cassidy said.
