Glion Institute of Higher Education was ranked number five of the world’s top institutions for hospitality and leisure management, and number one worldwide for employer reputation by QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018, released on 28 February.
The QS World University Rankings categorise the world’s top universities by subject areas, covering 48 different subjects in 2018. The rankings aim to help prospective students identify the world’s leading schools in their chosen field of study, extending the list of subjects each year in response to a high demand for subject-level comparisons.
In the Hospitality and Leisure Management category, the survey included two criteria: academic and employer rating, used to assess institutions’ reputations among international scholars and industry leaders. In 2018, the QS World University Rankings draw on survey responses from 75,015 academics and 40,455 responses from graduate employers worldwide.
“We welcome the QS World University Rankings and are proud to be among the world’s top five institutions for hospitality and leisure management. This ranking is a perfect testimony to all the academic innovations we have achieved in 2017, such as the emphasis of the Bachelor in Hospitality Management on three major specialisations relevant for the hospitality industry and the launch of a unique dual MBA and MSc degree, which aim to foster the student experience and shape the industry of tomorrow.
The score of 100 in the employer reputation survey confirms that employers appreciate the unique nature of our education model, combining experiential and practical learning with academic innovations and a student-centric approach,” said Georgette Davey, Managing Director of Glion Institute of Higher Education.
This ranking reflects Glion’s commitment to continuously enhance the student experience, best equip students for employment and anticipate upcoming trends in the travel and tourism industry, which is expected to create an additional 90 million jobs by 2027.
