James Scott Farrin personal injury attorneys Gabe Talton and Anabel Rosa were asked to teach February continuing education seminars, for attorneys who are members of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ).

Anabel Rosa – MedPay and Spanish Disbursals
Rosa spoke on strategies that can help attorneys use MedPay benefits to try to obtain better results for their clients, and what to look for regarding subrogation issues.

Rosa, who is a native of Puerto Rico and handles many of James Scott Farrin’s cases for Hispanic/Latino clients, also emphasized the importance of offering Spanish-speaking clients retainer and disbursal documents in both English and Spanish – particularly if attorneys advertise in Spanish.

Rosa has been an attorney for more than 20 years and is a shareholder of the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. She has taken on various leadership roles with the NCAJ’s Hispanic Latino Division for many years – first, as executive secretary, later as co-chair and, currently as division chair, and she has received the NCAJ Order of Service award.

Gabe Talton – Disbursements and Workers’ Comp Liens in Third Party Cases
Talton, who has been an attorney for 14 years, instructed attorneys on how to understand and navigate the technical interaction between workers’ compensation insurance policies and personal injury insurance policies. Talton emphasized that both types of insurance contracts contain complicated and technical language, which attorneys should adequately understand.

Talton said, “Attorneys often have multiple insurance policies at play in any single case. It takes knowledge and experience to assure that clients’ rights are protected.”

Talton has served on the NCAJ Board of Governors, as well as Communications Chair in the Auto Torts division, and as past Chair of the Hispanic Latino Affairs Division. For his efforts, Talton was awarded the NCAJ Order of Service Award three times.
