Union Street Goldsmith in San Francisco is currently featuring aquamarine, the March birthstone, in their custom jewelry line for the month of March. Aquamarine will be featured in platinum, white, yellow and rose gold jewelry for customers interested in seeking custom jewelry in the birthstone.

“Known to the ancients, aquamarine is associated with much lore,” said Summer Anderson, Gemologist at Union Street Goldsmith, “This beautiful gemstone was thought to give wearers knowledge and foresight and assist in an individual’s inspirations. A symbol of youth and fidelity, aquamarine was believed to induce a peaceful night’s rest.”

Anderson says that aquamarine is found in Brazil, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and India. The name is derived from the Latin meaning “sea water,” as its color ranges from icy blue to bluish-green shades in varying tones. Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl, a mineral species that includes emerald, morganite (pink) and golden beryl.

Union Street Goldsmith is known for their excellent quality colored gemstones. Visitors to their store at 1909 Union Street in San Francisco during the month of March can see stunning aquamarines in a wide variety of custom jewelry pieces.

"My designs are aimed at a casual, active lifestyle, but because the materials we use are of such high quality, they fall into the fine jewelry category,” said Glenda Queen, Co-Founder of Union Street Goldsmith in San Francisco, “I strive to create youthful timeless designs. Simple and soft with lots of color. I feel so very grateful that I found a profession in the arts, that 35 years later still gives me that big charge."

In addition to featuring the March Birthstone, Union Street Goldsmith will continue to offer their unique diamond rings and engagement rings in San Francisco.
