New York City (PRWEB) April 26, 2010

Portland, Oregon’s CTL™ Corporation announced the introduction of its new 2go™ Convertible Classmate PC 10.1” netbook model NL2 today from the Intel® CMPC launch event at the Central Park Zoo. The 2go™ NL2 is a ruggedized netbook featuring the Intel® Atom™ processor and a 10.1” touchscreen that rotates to convert the unit from traditional clamshell format to slate tablet format.

“The NL2 represents an evolution to our wildly popular 2go Convertible Classmate PC NL1, which has an 8.9” rotating touchscreen” said John Tucker, 2go Product Manager at CTL. “The 10.1” NL2, with its larger, higher resolution screen and keyboard that’s nearly the size of that on a traditional laptop really expands usage scenarios from the classroom and specialty ultra-mobile scenarios to usage by anyone who can benefit from a reasonably priced ruggedized Windows based netbook, touchscreen tablet, or eBook reader”.

The 2go Convertible Classmate PC NL2 is has a water resistant keyboard and screen and is designed to withstand drop test from desk height. It has shock mounted 160GB Hard Drive, a protective slate gray rubberized surface, rounded re-enforced corners and a retractable carrying handle. Additionally, the NL2 features an Antimicrobial coating on its keyboard and a webcam that rotates 235 degrees to capture images either facing towards or away from the user. The 6 cell battery version of the NL2 has up to 8.5 hours of battery life.

Available with either Microsoft Windows 7 or XP, CTL will offer their education customers the option of ordering units with a special education software stack that includes classroom management, assessment and teaching capability titles from Smart Technologies™ as well as theft deterrent and parental control software from Intel®. The 2go Convertible Classmate PC NL2 also includes an integrated ePub and PDF compatible eBook reader. In July 2010, CTL will offer a Professional model with expanded mobile capabilities including integrated GPS, 3G and CDMA.

“The Intel powered classmate PC reference design is brought to life by local PC manufactures in our Intel Learning Series Alliance, such as CTL. They understand the needs of their markets and have the local network to provide timely support. We are excited to continue our support for CTL which started the development of the 2go PC product line with the very first classmate PC reference designs,” said Kapil Wadhera, acting general manager of Intel’s Emerging Markets Platform Group.

The 2go Convertible Classmate PC NL2 expands the popular 2go mobile product line to 6 different models ranging from mobile workstations to ultra-mobile ruggedized netbook tablets. The NL2 is available at CTL's eCommerce website as well as from the select authorized resellers listed at 2gopc.com.
