3D Fabrication Technologies, Inc. (3DFabTech) is proud to announce that it has been selected as a semifinalist in the world’s largest and most successful cleantech accelerator program. 3DFabTech and other semifinalists were selected from a talented pool of more than 100 cleantech entrepreneur teams from across California, Hawaii, and Nevada that applied to enter the western region competition this year.
3DFabTech will now compete for regional prizes which will lead to the national level for a grand prize of up to $250,000 in cash and services, and an overall prize chest of nearly $1 million. Starting immediately, and over the next six months, 3DFabTech will receive coaching from the Cleantech Open network of talented business mentors, one-on-one consulting with specialists, an intensive “business boot camp” at the Cleantech Open National Academy, and extensive local development events, training and materials.
Ted Jacobson, the inventor behind the 3DFabTech system, notes that "3DFabTech is honored to be selected as a semi-finalist in the business accelerator competition. Our 3DFabTech solution fundamentally changes the economics and performance of tooling systems:
- We save the customer time – We reduce the prototyping cycle from 10-15 weeks (hard tooling), or 1-7 days (rapid tooling) to hours.
- We save the customer money – We reduce the cost of tooling from $5,000-$10,000/sq ft (hard tooling), or $750-$1,000/sq ft (rapid tooling) to $50-$100/sq ft.
- We provide new capabilities – Our flexible manufacturing option greatly reduces tooling inventory ($) and space required ($).
3DFabTech enables inventors to quickly realize their vision - imagine being able to mold or fabricate parts the size of a bedroom in two days’ time. The technology turns dreams into reality with unprecedented turnaround."
With the help of patent boutique firm Tran & Associates, 3DFabTech owns a large and growing IP portfolio in the rapid 3D replication field. 3DFabTech's intellectual property development has been accelerated using patent workflow solutions from PowerPatent Inc. Such tools enable 3DFabTech to file quickly and benefit from the first-inventor-to-file provision of the American Invents Act (AIA).
