Former Baltimore Raven’s Defensive Tackle and 2001 Super Bowl Champion Lional Dalton has joined forces with 1-800-411 Pain and The Prevention Team. Their goal was for Lional to give three presentations inspiring young children and teenagers to join the anti-bullying movement in South Florida and around the country.

The first of these presentations took place on the afternoon of July 12th 2012 at the Northwest Boys & Girls Club in Miami, FL. Approximately 150 children and teenagers attended with their ages ranging from 9-14 years old. For many of them in attendance it was their first time meeting a real life NFL legend and celebrity. His inspiring speech and talk were met with an enthusiastic jubilation from the kids present. After the presentation they were invited to take pictures with Lional and share some of their own stories.

The second presentation took place the very next morning of July 13th 2012 at the same location. Approximately 140 kids were in attendance with ages ranging from 5-8 years old. Due in part to the much younger ages of the children present for this event than compared to the day before, Lional Dalton’s mere size stood out among them. Their looks upwards of amazement proved that he was the right candidate for the presentation and you could see the joy in his face to be around such positive energy. His presence alone gave inspiration to the smaller kids that someone as big as him can be a kind hearted role model for anti-bullying.

The third and final presentation took place on the afternoon of July 23rd 2012 at the South Dade YMCA located in Pinecrest, FL. Approximately 120 kids were in attendance ranging from 10-14 years old. This was an important presentation because it was the oldest group of children and teenagers involved. It was essential that the message reached the oldest children of the three presentations because they more commonly have the most troubled youths in that demographic. Their concentration and respect of what he said and showed them was proof enough that to the majority of the adults present he was getting through.

Lional Dalton is no stranger to charitable events. In the past he has been an outspoken advocate towards a number of other epidemics affecting our youth like childhood obesity. Since his retirement in 2006 he has been a huge part of many charities around the country including being the co-host of the 2011 Unsung Athlete Awards. Hopefully, his contributions and network of current and retired players will move them to take a page out of his playbook.

“Getting someone as respected as Lional Dalton to stand behind an organization like The Prevention Team is a great way to help to the South Florida community.“ Dr. Robert Lewin, Founder of 1-800-411-Pain has stated. “Bullying is a major concern in this country and if we could get more professional athletes and celebrities like him to stand up for what’s right it would help to make a safer environment for our kids to grow up in. I’m happy to be a part of this organization and I hope that through these presentations we can raise the awareness of this cruel epidemic that’s hindering the youth of our great country.”
