Compton, CA (PRWEB) May 23, 2013
In the wake of devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma City and North Texas, prominent retailer of aftermarket parts for off-roading, 4 Wheel Parts, has launched a donation drive through the American Red Cross. The 4 Wheel Parts store in Moore, Oklahoma was close to the tornado’s path and has spurred the company to begin a united nationwide effort to assist victims in the ravaged communities of both states. 4 Wheel Parts has agreed to match donations of up to $10,000 for the relief effort underway.
“4 Wheel Parts will match up to $10,000 when people donate to the relief effort,” says company President & CEO Greg Adler. “Thankfully, our Moore, Oklahoma personnel and their families are safe and sound, but the nearby area is devastated. We want all our store employees and the surrounding communities affected to know they’re in our thoughts and prayers. The relief fund is a way to show our support and make a difference.”
“Everyone from the Moore, Oklahoma store is doing well and they’re all just happy to be alive and with their families,” says Jeremy Komorn, 4 Wheel Parts Regional Manager in Texas and Oklahoma. “I booked a hotel room for the store staff, then they called me to cancel because they said there are people out there that need the room more than they do. Most of the guys had friends or family in the surrounding areas that still had power and water so they went there.”
“The fact that we got out of it alive is a miracle because the main eye of the storm hit about a mile south of us,” says Moore Store Manager James McMullen. “When the storm hit, there was a scramble to get to shelter and me and some of my staff went inside the store bathroom.”
The deadly Oklahoma twister was over a mile wide with winds reaching 210 m.p.h. Chris McBee, a storm chaser from Norman, Oklahoma described it as an “elephant trunk” and said he hoped local residents had heard the warnings. FEMA has sent disaster workers to the town of Moore to help with support in the aftermath of the tornado. In the Dallas-Fort Worth region of Texas, tornadoes touched down a week earlier and demolished the towns of Granbury and Cleburne.
