Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 27, 2012
Pet stores, toy stores, boutiques, bikes shops and more are using Little Independent to enhance visibility online, access new customers and turn inventory more quickly. The aim of the site is to be an advocate for independent retailers and to help shoppers find discounted merchandise online from mom & pop style shops.
Little Independent is an online listing service for brick and mortar retailers that does not take a percentage of sales. Listing fees are paid up front and are always less than $3. The simple listing fee structure and emphasis on sharing news and information about the benefits of shopping at local, independent shops has drawn retailers to the site.
The first stores on the site, which launched June 2011, were all in the Chicago area but gradually stores in other parts of the country signed up. There is no cost to add a store and it only takes ten minutes or so. New stores all receive three free listings. With the addition of Eugenia Woods in St. Petersburg, FL there are now 75 stores and 255 items for sale.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Eugenia Woods because the more stores and sale item content on the site the more interesting it becomes for shoppers,” says Lesley Tweedie the founder of Little Independent and co-owner of Roscoe Village Bikes in Chicago. “We’re working to grow bigger and better by improving user experience and adding features.”
The site doesn’t operate with a large staff or budget but Tweedie is beginning to consider reaching out to investors to accelerate the growth and improvement process. Talent and capital are both in short supply and people who would be interested in getting involved are encouraged to contact the founder.
Rebekah Lazaridis, one of the owners of Eugenia Woods, was happy to learn her store was the 75th on the site and 1st in Florida. “Oh, wow! Thanks so very much, Lesley! We are super excited to be a part of Little Independent!” was her response.
