Adelaide, Australia (PRWEB) September 11, 2012
Responding to the Australian Government's changes to the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) from July 1, 2012, Wellness & Lifestyles CEO, Nick Heywood-Smith, recently announced a Specialist Nurses Service to help aged care facilities manage compliance and resident assessments. Such has been the response, that the company has now launched a recruitment drive for more RNs to deliver the service.
The nurses will help facilities to understand the changes, and both educate and assist centre staff in how to claim the correct entitlement for each resident.
"All nurses delivering our ACFI specialist service are required to have experience in aged care, and be able to perform related medical assessments of residents" explained Mr Heywood-Smith. "They may also be required to advise all levels of staff on how to provide the most accurate assessments for the ACFI."
"Comprehensive and accurate assessments will ensure that claims submitted to the Department of Health and Aging will attract the correct level of government funding" he continued.
In announcing the recruitment drive for suitably qualified RNs, Mr Heywood-Smith, explained that the nursing staff involved in the day to day care of aged care centre residents rarely understand the intricacies of the ACFI. Nor, he says, do they have the time to conduct the assessments and subsequent paperwork needed to ensure that the correct level of funding is received to help them to provide a higher level of care if it is needed.
"We are looking for experienced aged care nurses who understand the ACFI, and who can relate to aged-care facility staff at all levels" said Mr Heywood-Smith. "Nurses with a demonstrated commitment to excellence, an eye for detail, and a genuine concern for the care of residents in aged-care centres, are ideal candidates."
Nurses who want to utilise their clinical expertise and ACFI knowledge in a broader context, without working shifts and weekends, are invited to enquire to Wellness & Lifestyles.
