New York, NY (PRWEB) May 22, 2013
This prestigious prize saw competition from over 50 jewellery Valuers from 10 countries and is intended to recognise one Valuer who, above all others, has “Demonstrated the greatest commitment to the AIJV's ethos of sharing and helping their fellow Valuers, supporting the objectives of the AIJV and having made a valuable contribution to the profession as a whole”.
Since Shirley Mitchell's business became an AIJV member in 2010 she has dedicated herself to not only continuing to develop her own business but assisting in the growth of other AIJV members’ businesses too. Very often this has taken the form of physically visiting another member and assisting in promotional activities for a business that could reasonably be considered to be her competition.
At an Award Ceremony hosted by the Scottish Gemmological Association, Co-ordinator for the AIJV, Adrian Smith, said “Shirley's selfless approach and seemingly boundless energy over the last three years makes her an extremely worthy winner of the AIJV’s top award.”
On commenting on her award, Shirley Mitchell said, "I am immensely proud to receive this award from the AIJV and would like to thank the rest of the members for all their wonderful contributions to my experience over the years. I feel privileged to be part of such a fascinating profession; I really do have the best job in the world!"
Shirley Mitchell received a faceted lead-crystal trophy and a framed award produced by the Heraldic Artist for the Lord Lyon of Scotland. A page on the AIJV Awards website has been dedicated to this year’s winner: http://www.aijvawards.org/val2013.html
The 2014 award ceremony will be held at the Tucson Gem Show.
