Dallas, TX (Vocus) January 16, 2010
Health officials are predicting another wave of the H1N1 influenza virus and are urging residents to get vaccinated and to take precautions to avoid the illness. ANY LAB TEST NOW® North Dallas reports that they currently have a large amount of H1N1 vaccines available.
The H1N1 flu, initially called the swine flu, emerged last spring spreading person-to-person worldwide, causing the first flu pandemic in more than 40 years. Texas has received about 10 million doses of H1N1 vaccine. More than a million and a half doses have been distributed in North Texas to health departments, doctors, pharmacies and other health care providers.
Collin County confirmed its first swine flu death this week, a 28-year-old man who had underlying health problems, while three more H1N1-related deaths were announced Wednesday in Dallas and Tarrant counties. This prompted health officials to urge more people to get vaccinated. While the flu is in overall decline, the North Dallas area is reporting a slight rise in flu activity this week compared to last.
ANY LAB TEST NOW® North Dallas owner Heather Johnson states, “We have a sufficient amount of H1N1 vaccines available, but a decline in media attention after the holidays has led to less people seeking the flu shot.” ANY LAB TEST NOW® is a medical facility that offers thousands of affordable lab tests direct to customers. Their services do not require insurance and no appointment is needed.
In addition to getting the vaccination, some safety tips to prevent the spread of the virus include washing hands with soap and water frequently, particularly after direct contact with others and before eating; avoiding touching the mouth, nose or eyes; covering coughs and sneezes; and staying home if sick.
