The Colorado Photonics Industry Association (CPIA) announced today that it has named ASD Inc. (formerly Analytical Spectral Devices) of Boulder as the 2008 Colorado Photonics Company of the Year.
Boulder, CO (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 11, 2008 -- The Colorado Photonics Industry Association (CPIA) announced today that it has named ASD Inc. (formerly Analytical Spectral Devices) of Boulder as the 2008 Colorado Photonics Company of the Year. The award will be presented at the CPIA Annual Meeting Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in UMC 235 of CU-Boulder from 3-6 PM, and is open and free to the public.
The Photonics Company of the Year award goes to a company or institution that has contributed the most to the Colorado photonics industry recently. This year's winner, ASD Inc., was founded in Boulder in 1990 to manufacture spectrometers - instruments that measure materials for many scientific and industrial applications. In just the past year, they have been named to the Boulder County Business Report's Mercury 100 for fastest growing companies, named one of Colorado's Technology Fast 50 companies by Deloitte and Touche, listed in Inc. Magazine's Inc. 5000 List, and awarded the Colorado Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting.
"Colorado is home to some great photonics and technology companies and we are extremely proud to be recognized by CPIA as a leader among them," said Dave Rzasa, ASD President and CEO. "ASD is addressing a growing global need for advanced materials measurement solutions, and recognition by a statewide association of one's peers is an honor."
CPIA Executive Director Barbara Ihde said, "ASD continues to experience steady growth in an extremely difficult economic environment, and is taking optical measurement systems into a host of new, novel, and innovative application areas."
