The growing need for reliable materials information by the medical devices community has resulted in a growing number of new ASM events and services, including the Materials for Medical Devices Database, seminars, the MPMD Conference & Exposition, and MPMD books and publications. Also of interest to the medical devices community: the International Organization on Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies (SMST) is an Affiliate Society of ASM that is dedicated to disseminating technical information and education related to shape memory and superelastic materials, particularly Nitinol alloys.
