A globally preferred leading supplier of frequency control and magnetic components, Abracon Corporation introduces its ASG2 and ASG2-LJ series of high-frequency, precision, crystal oscillators and VCXOs in an ultra-miniature, space-saving 2.5x2.0x1.0mm SMT sealed package.

The ASG2 series is a factory configurable, surface-mount oscillator, capable of any frequency output between 8.0MHz and 1.5GHz in a 2.5x2.0x1.0mm ceramic SMT package. The overall product capability across 8.0MHz to 1.5GHz is a 1.80ps maximum RMS jitter with an all-inclusive frequency stability of < ±50 ppm (including tolerance, stability over temperature and aging) throughout a 15-year product lifecycle.

The ASG2-LJ series is designed to offer exceptional close-to-the-carrier jitter performance. Utilizing innovative architecture and processing techniques, this solution features exceptional phase noise characteristics at high carrier frequencies with a typical RMS jitter of 500fs at frequencies including: 100, 125, 156.25, 200, 212.5, 250, 312.5, 400 and 1,000MHz. The 500fs typical performance is only available in a XO configuration, which is optimized to service jitter-sensitive applications.

Standard applications of the ASG2 series include: networking, SONET/SDH, WiMax/WLAN, computing, PLLs, DDSs, DSL/ADSL, BTS and general timing applications that require a high-frequency, low-noise, low-cost, small profile SMT solution.

Key features of the ASG2 series of crystal oscillators and voltage controlled crystal oscillators include:

  • A LVCMOS, LVDS or LVPECL output option.
  • A LVCMOS available frequency range from 8.0MHz to 200.0MHz.
  • A LVDS or LVPECL available frequency range from 8.0MHz to 1.5GHz.
  • An operation of +2.5V or +3.3V.
  • A typical RMS jitter of 500fs in XO mode at specific carrier frequencies in the ASG2-LJ version.
  • A -40ºC to +85ºC standard operating temperature range.
  • An all-inclusive frequency stability of < ±50 ppm over a 15-year product lifecycle.
  • A space-saving, 2.5x2.0x1.0mm ceramic SMT package.
  • A lead time of one to five business days for small quantities.

The unique, integrated circuitry of the ASG2 solution provides factory configurability that enables extremely short lead times especially in smaller quantities. The ASG2 and ASG2-LJ will be available in August 2014 through Abracon’s Global Distribution Network.
