Each year, Inc. and Inc.com celebrate the remarkable achievements of today's entrepreneurial superstars--the privately held small businesses that drive our economy. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy--America's independent-minded entrepreneurs.

"If you want to know which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500," said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. "These are the most dynamic, fast-growth companies in the nation, the ones finding innovative solutions to problems, creating smart systems, and inventing products we soon discover we can't live without. The Inc. 500 list is Inc. magazine's tribute to American business ingenuity and ambition."

"Alltech is very pleased that Inc. magazine has recognized Alltech in their annual list," said Alltech president and founder, Dr. Pearse Lyons. "This honor is reflection of the hard work by our employees and the confidence of our customers."

"To our understanding, this is the first time an animal health company has been recognized by Inc.," added Alltech vice president, Aidan Connolly. "In an era of added-value, sustainability and total traceability, it is nice to be recognized as a leader in this category."

Alltech has recently teamed up with Muhammad Ali to create the Alltech-Muhammad Ali Center Global Education and Charitable Fund, as well as being the title sponsor for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games which will be held for the first time ever in Kentucky in 2010.

Founded in 1979, Inc. is the only major business magazine dedicated exclusively to owners and managers of growing private companies that delivers real solutions for today's innovative company builders. Despite the ongoing recession, the 2009 Inc. 500 offers a glimpse of the future of the U.S. economy.
