WhosHere for iPhone Surpasses Two Million Users

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving for WhosHere as total users climb past two million. WhosHere monthly iOS downloads exceed those of highly funded applications such as Gowalla, Loopt and Whrll.

“We were thrilled when we achieved 1 million downloads in only a year and a half. So, as a boot-strapped company, we are ecstatic that we got the second million users in half that time; just nine months,” said Stepehen Smith co-founder and COO of myRete.

User adoption of WhosHere™ continues to accelerate. WhosHere, the incredibly popular iPhone Social Networking app that helps users meet people nearby, now has over 2 million users. This comes less than four months after passing 1.5 million users and only 8 months after passing the one million user mark.

Monthly downloads of WhosHere from Apple’s iTunes App Store have averaged 167,000 since August when the total user counts was 1.5 million. This download rate is substantially higher than other location-aware social networking applications such as Loopt, Gowalla and Whrll.

WhosHere is the first mobile social networking app for the iPhone to let users meet new people and interact based on proximity. The application introduces users to people that they have something in common. When a user finds someone interesting, they can send free text and image messages and make free VOIP calls. All this is done without disclosing any personal information unless the user chooses to provide it.

Uses of WhosHere include dating, making new friends, chatting with like minded people, looking for jobs, selling stuff, looking for clients, promoting bands, practicing foreign language skills with native speakers and virtual tourism.

WhosHere is a mobile social networking application enabling users to meet friends, potential dates, or network through an exceptionally well-designed interface. WhosHere shows matching profiles nearby or anywhere in the world based on answers to a few questions and who they are interested in meeting. WhosHere takes the chance out of the chance encounter. Users simply find someone to talk with then send unlimited, free text and image messages, and make and receive free calls; all within the WhosHere application.
