Applied Innovations’ Giving Innovations Corporate Relations Program Supports Toys for Tots in December

Applied Innovations today announced its December Giving Innovations corporate responsibility campaign, this month in support of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. This is the third monthly installment of Giving Innovations, a dedicated year-round effort designed to raise awareness and donations for charitable causes each month. AppliedI will donate 10% of all new sales made during November to the organization, as well as organizing an employee toy drive to collect new, unwrapped toys to be distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community.

“Giving Innovations came out of our desire as a company to take a more active role in supporting both local and national non-profit programs that are doing important charitable work,” stated Jess Coburn, founder and CEO of Applied Innovations, Corp. “With Giving Innovations, we showcase a different program each month with a promotional campaign designed to increase awareness, raise money and provide physical assistance for worthy causes.”

“We wanted to alternate between national high profile programs and smaller grass-roots community organizations that would allow us as a company and as individuals to get more personally involved,” said Lisa Perry, sales consultant at Applied Innovations. “The Marine Toys for Tots program offers the perfect combination of a well-established, proven organization with local results.”

Toys for Tots was unofficially born in 1947, when a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. The 1947 pilot project was so successful that the Marine Corps adopted Toys for Tots in 1948 and expanded it into a nationwide campaign. Over the 62 years of the Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children. Since establishing the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in 1991, the program has supplemented local toy collections with more than 81.3 million toys valued at more than $487 million.

“I personally get a real charge seeing the joy a child gets out of even the simplest toy,” said Coburn. “Toys for Tots is a great program and we’ve donated to in the past, but this year we decided to make it official.”

October launched AppliedI’s Giving Innovations program, with a campaign to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and continued in November with a campaign to raise funds and provide volunteer support for Boca Helping Hands, a local food bank and assistance program. Giving Innovations will continue in 2011 with a full roster of events throughout the year. During December, AppliedI will be soliciting suggestions from customers and employees to identify local and national charities deserving of recognition and support. The final campaign calendar will be announced in January.
