Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/), one of the leading accredited online colleges, announced today that Stephanie Gritz, Long Beach, CA, has joined Ashworth as its new Learning Resource Center Director.

In her new role, Gritz will manage all aspects of Ashworth’s Learning Resource Center (LRC) within the online Student Community, overseeing all library resources for Ashworth and James Madison High School students, and provide academic research and writing support to students, faculty, and staff. She will report to the Chief Academic Officer.

Gritz comes to Ashworth with extensive knowledge of library operations, most notably the Rice-Aron Library, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona’s W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Library and University of California, Davis’s Shields Library.

Dr. Leslie Gargiulo, Ashworth College’s Chief Academic Officer commented, “    Our student community is a vibrant and integral part of our online learning experience. We needed someone who could understand our online model, who could be a leader in creating a social/academic space, and who has the technical and social skills that would allow for fluid integration between our social community and our academic expectations. Stephanie definitely meets these expectations.”

Currently completing her Master’s Degree in Library and Information science at San Jose State University, she received her bachelor’s degree at University of California, Davis.

“My new role with Ashworth College provides an exciting opportunity to build the LRC from the ground up, ensuring that all members of the Ashworth Community have access to the information and resources they need in order to succeed in their academic endeavors,” she said. “With Ashworth's large and active online community, my goal is to create a center that can successfully support the needs of this community.”

Outside of her role as the Ashworth College Learning Resource Center Director, Gritz enjoys reading, online gaming, crocheting, swimming and her two dogs -- an Irish terrier named Max and a Labradoodle named Luna.
