Why people do the things they do is an age-old question and its answer can be found in the study of human behavior and psychology. Practitioners can be found in an abundance of career fields from education to criminal justice to business. It’s one of the reasons why Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/), a leading online school, introduced a resource for those interested in issues pertaining to the study of psychology.
Ashworth recently created its Psychology Group within its online Community as a resource for students, enthusiasts and professionals having interest in this highly versatile field. Currently, Ashworth offers psychology degree, career diploma and undergraduate certificate programs.
Ashworth’s nationally accredited online psychology programs are among its most popular and the Psychology Discussion Group currently serves more than 2,000 members (as of May 2012). The group is part of the larger 100,000 plus online Ashworth Community.
“There are many opportunities to professionally apply principles of psychology to human resources, administration, management, sales, and marketing problems. Whether the intent is to make psychology the primary career path or supplement a career in a different field, the Psychology Group is a great resource for information and networking,” said Amy Bernard, Director of Interactive Marketing for Ashworth College.
Ashworth has been educating working adults for the past 25 years. With the launch of the Psychology Group, Ashworth now provides a state-of-the-art online resource that shares professional content with non-students, as well as social networking opportunities for existing students. Group members and visitors will find:
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, those with psychology training will benefit from industries that are projected to grow during the 2010-20 decade. For example, growth for careers in human resources could grow by 13% while careers in social work are slated to grow by as much as 25%.
“I am taking psychology to help people. I currently work with homeless women and their children in a transitional housing program. The majority of them suffer from mental health diagnosis, the moms and kids. I am hoping having a degree in psychology will enable me to be able to help them more than I currently do as their case manager.” Posted by an Ashworth Psychology student.
