"Come see Mary Todd Lincoln in full costume and listen to her share history about her life"
Bradley, Illinois (PRWEB) February 10, 2013
Heritage Woods of Batavia, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is commemorating the Birthday of the 16th President of the United States with a "Visit by Mary Todd Lincoln" at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The community, which is located at 1079 E. Wilson St. in Batavia, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.
"Come and see 'Mary Todd Lincoln' in full costume and listen to her tell stories and share history about her life," says Jennifer Hanke, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods of Batavia. At one time in her life, Mary Todd Lincoln made Bellevue Place on the west side of Batavia her home so "this visit really connects with the rich local history of this area."
Her husband, President Abraham Lincoln, was born on Feb. 12, 1809 in Hardin County, Kentucky.
The informational program is open to the public. There is no cost to attend.

The community recently was honored for receiving a deficiency-free survey from the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, the agency that regulates communities such as Heritage Woods that operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program. Heritage Woods also was honored for being fully compliant with Illinois Housing Development Authority regulations for low income housing.
"Our community provides older adults with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Hanke. "Residents benefit from the opportunity to live in a residential apartment-home environment and receive personal assistance and help with medications."
The private apartments at Heritage Woods feature a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, and an emergency alert system.
Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Meals, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.
"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and participate in activities and special programs such as the visit by Mary Todd Lincoln," says Hanke.
The community is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
