A Baby T-Shirt Online Store for Geeks
CleverCuties.com is filling a need for Geek/Academic themed baby t-shirts. There's so much out there for jocks. We've all seen complete Yankee baby outfits. Now there's an option for the Mathematicians, Professors, Musicians and just your average Geeks of the world.
Long Island, NY (PRWEB) July 6, 2006 -- Baby and children’s clothing run the gamut these days, emblazoned with catchy little sayings declaring your six-month old daughter is a “Diva in Training” or your two year old boy is a “Super Jock.” But what’s available for kids who are apt to grow up knowing more about math and science instead of beauty parlors and baseball?
That’s what Michael and Lorna Leselrod thought when they were expecting their first child, a baby boy. Michael, a software engineer, and Lorna, who has a master’s degree in education and teaches middle school science, had no problem finding clothes with footballs, but they wanted something that was more cerebral than sporty. They came up with the idea for Clever Cuties: Geeky T-Shirts for Baby Geeks (www.clevercuties.com), a line of clothing bearing math, science, literature, music, and computer designs.
“My wife complained that it's hard to find boy baby clothes that aren't the stereotypical sports clothes,” said Michael. “That's when it hit us—we should come up with our own line of ‘geeky’ baby and children’s clothing.” “This was something we both agreed on immediately.” It wasn’t long until CleverCuties.com was up and running.
CleverCuties.com sells onesies, t-shirts, baseball jerseys, sweatshirts, and teddy bears. There are different designs and slogans. For example, for little mathematicians there’s “A is for Algorithm,” and budding musicians can don shirts with “M is for Mozart,” and “B is for Beethoven.” There’s even a “Baby Logic” design explaining the way a baby thinks using C++ code.
Sales have been brisk during the first couple of months. The MIT Museum Store in Cambridge, MA is now the Clever Cuties line, and the Leselrods are currently talking with universities throughout the country about carrying their clothes.
“Everyone wants something they can connect to. A Yankee fan can find anything they want in baby sizes and now a Mathematician or a Physics professor can find baby T-Shirts that they can directly relate too. All the feedback has been extremely positive. Many parenting forums have had threads about Clever Cuties and it’s great to see how people understand our message.”
