Escondido, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2012
Baker Electric Solar, a full-service solar integrator specializing in green technology design / build residential solar and commercial solar installations, is pleased to announce an end of summer solar special. Customers who purchase their solar system on or before August 31, 2012, will receive a 6500 Watt Generator as a Baker Bonus.
Portable generators not only help protect a family, their food and possessions during an electrical power outage, but are also useful for camping, or anywhere one might need power. In the event of an outage, solar power does not operate. When a solar inverter detects a disruption in the grid power supply, it automatically shuts off. This is standard design in order to protect linemen who are working on the outage from the risk of electric shock from the solar system feeding power back into the grid.
Power outages can be “planned for” as in the case of equipment upgrades and maintenance. Or they are “unplanned for” with severe weather, accidents and natural disasters. Southern California residents are also familiar with “rotating outages” or "rolling blackouts" which are based on heavy use. To add to this mix of uncertainty, the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) went offline in January when radioactive steam leaked from one of its tubes. According to multiple news sources, the plant, which supplies approximately 20 percent of San Diego County's power, remains closed indefinitely.
A generator keeps essential electrical appliances running during an outage – refrigerators, freezers, lights, fans, TVs, garage doors, computers, mobile devices / cell phone chargers and more. It is gasoline powered and is positioned outside the home. With the Baker Bonus generator, up to 6500 watts of electrical power would feed directly into the home using extension cords and power strips.
If a homeowner is interested in eliminating the extension cords, Baker Electric Solar will install a transfer switch that distributes power from the generator to selected electrical circuits in the home chosen from the main service panel for an additional cost. When an outage occurs, the homeowner simply turns the generator on and switches their home from utility power to generator power with all of the predetermined circuits turning on for use.
“With our August Baker Bonus 6500 Watt generator, Baker Electric Solar is helping homeowners be proactive in having a generator on-site before they need one,” said BES Operations Manager, Keith Randhahn. “It’s also using foresight to select a company that can service your solar power system for the life of its warranty--20 to 25 years. We are part of the Baker Electric, Inc. group of companies that have been in business since 1938, and we plan to be around for another 74 years.”
