Berkeley College Partners with Navy College Program to Offer Sailors Degrees via Distance Learning

Berkeley College is proud to announce that it has entered into an educational partnership with the Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership (NCPDLP) to offer rating-related degrees via distance learning to sailors in the US Navy.

(Vocus/PRWEB ) June 23, 2009 -- Berkeley College is proud to announce that it has entered into an educational partnership with the Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership (NCPDLP) to offer rating-related degrees via distance learning to sailors in the US Navy. This progressive partnership, which will support the sailor's mobile lifestyle and educational goals, allows students to use their benefits under the Navy Tuition Assistance program to pay for courses.

"Berkeley is already becoming the college of choice among students who receive veteran benefits. We are pleased that through this new program we will be able to offer the same higher-education opportunity to sailors currently serving our nation on ships and at US Navy installations worldwide," says Berkeley College President Dario A. Cortes, PhD.

The distance learning program offers two Associate's and five Bachelor's degrees in career fields directly related to Navy job ratings. Degrees are in relevant fields such as General Business, Business Administration and Justice Studies, and makes maximum use of military professional training and experience to fulfill degree requirements.

The Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership is offered through the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Navy (SOCNAV) system, a network of colleges that guarantees sailors can continue working toward a degree regardless of transfers related to their Navy service. SOCNAV programs are offered at almost all Navy installations and on board ships around the world, and the Berkeley College Online program will be accessible from any location where there is Internet service.

"Even when they are hundreds of miles from home, our servicemen and women will have the same personalized faculty attention and substantial support services that make Berkeley College students enrolled in traditional on-site classes successful," says Assistant Vice President of Military and Veterans Affairs Richard Robitaille, EdD. "Small class size and faculty with real-world experience will help sailors use their strengths and continue to build successful careers."
