Trike News: Bikesure Moves to End Discrimination Against Disabled Trikers

Bikesure is to offer insurance to disabled trikers on a provisional licence

UK (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 12, 2008 -- Trikes are great vehicles for disabled riders. Stable, safe and yet exhilarating, they are increasingly popular for those who either can't or prefer not to ride a motorbike. But there's a problem: most insurance companies won't offer cover to disabled drivers who only have a provisional licence. And that can delay or altogether scupper a disabled triker's plans, before they even get on the road.

Now trike insurance specialist Bikesure has stepped in to help. The company, part of Adrian Flux Insurance Services, is to offer insurance to disabled trikers on a provisional licence.

"We insure a growing number of disabled riders and drivers," says Robert Balls of Bikesure. "We've found them to be an excellent risk - statistically they make fewer claims than able-bodied policy holders. So it makes no logical sense for them to be discriminated against in this way."

Nor will a disabled triker have to spend more on insurance. For example, a Yamaha XV 535S Virago ridden by an able-bodied 30 year old male on a provisional licence, will cost from around £199.14 to insure, depending on location and other factors - exactly the same as Bikesure will charge a disabled rider.

Bikesure is 100% British owned and based. It has a huge range of specialist policies for the motorcycle enthusiast, including cheap bike insurance schemes for performance and custom bikes, scooters, trikes, quads and bug riders.
