Bill Maher: CNN was 'Silly' to Edit Out Certain Comments about GOP Chief from Re-airing; 'Real Time With Bill Maher' Host Tells Podshow's 'The Strip' He Didn't Think His Remarks were Controversial

Controversial comedian Bill Maher told "The Strip" podcast this week that CNN's censoring of his remarks about Republican leader Ken Mehlman "seemed silly" and amounted to political correctness.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) November 17, 2006 -- Controversial comedian Bill Maher told "The Strip" podcast on Thursday that CNN's censoring of his controversial statements about GOP chief Ken Mehlman "seemed silly because it was Larry King Live and I assumed everybody saw it the first time."

Maher, appearing on the Nov. 16 edition of the weekly celebrity interview in advance of two Las Vegas appearances this weekend, was reacting to his Nov. 8 appearance on "Larry King Live" which re-aired later minus about a minute of Maher's comments about Mehlman.

The entire interview and a partial transcript of Maher's response to the CNN flap can be found at www.thestrippodcast.com or thestrip.podshow.com.

Maher also reacts forcefully on "The Strip" to the firestorm surrounding Sen. John Kerry's remarks a week before the 2006 elections that were construed by some as anti-military. Maher, who lost his show "Politically Incorrect" on ABC in 2001 after he made comments also construed as anti-military following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, said he has a "special sympathy" for Kerry and the similarly-attacked Dixie Chicks.
