BioBlend Renewable Resources Taps Sam Burkett as New President
ADM-backed, bio-based lubricants firm selects president to build green product distribution effort, expand ties to petroleum industry.
Houston (PRWEB) June 10, 2008 -- BioBlend Renewable Resources, a Houston-based manufacturer and marketer of bio lubricants, oils and greases, today announced the promotion of Sam Burkett to the firm's presidency. Burkett joined BioBlend in April 2007 and oversees developing the company's distributor network for renewable, biodegradable products. The BioBlend distributor network contains over a dozen major distributors, including Pumpelly Oil Company, Suburban Oil, Haycock Petroleum, and Dennis K. Burke, Inc. Part of Burkett's mandate in 2008 is to double this group of quality distributors.
Chairman of the Board Jeff Hart, who appointed Burkett, said, "he is the perfect choice to help the mature lubricants distribution industry discover that they can now expand their catalog and customer base with innovative, vegetable-based products and bio lubricants. Burkett's career began in major oil company fuels and has evolved toward management and marketing of renewable energy, bio-based fuels and specialty environmental products. After receiving a degree in Nuclear Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he served a six-year tenure with the Army Corps of Engineers. He joined Exxon Company, USA, in 1991 where he held positions in both the marketing and refining groups over the course of nine years. At Exxon he worked as a technical supervisor at the Baytown Refinery, as the National Accounts Manager and eventually as Manager for the Industrial Business Line of Exxon products.
In 2000, Burkett joined Fuel Quest, the Houston-based technology provider for the petroleum industry as Vice President of Sales and later worked at both DTN Energy, a petroleum expert, and with Panda Ethanol, a major developer and operator of large ethanol plants. He joined BioBlend in 2007 from Vertex Green Energy, where he led the biodiesel development program and established a consulting division specializing in renewable energy.
As president of BioBlend, Burkett says he's looking forward to not only expanding the distributor network, but also to launching a retail products division that will offer consumers a line of biodegradable, environmentally friendly products for home use.
