Dry January in aid of Cancer Research a Big Success at Boundary Bathrooms

As the month of February begins, many people are probably a bit down because they didn’t stick to all those New Year’s resolutions that were naively set at the beginning of the year. Whether it’s keeping fit, giving up smoking or vowing to get more organised in life, they're often completely forgotten about come February 1st.

Boundary Bathrooms do their bit for cancer research

Colne, Lancashire (PRWEB UK) 6 February 2013

However, some people are stronger willed than others and that prestigious bunch includes Joanne Butterworth, sales manager at Boundary Bathrooms.

Joanne was one of the 35,000 people that took part in Cancer Research UK’s Dryathlon, a new January campaign that encourages people to donate the money that they would have otherwise spent on buying alcohol to an amazing cause. It’s particularly tough to stick to it in January, just like most resolutions, because January is slated as the most miserable month of the year; a moniker it has more than lived up to in 2013 due to this month’s miserable UK weather. This time of year encourages a night out or two, or a glass of wine here and there, just as simple stress relief.

For Joanne, the temptation was strong; “I’ve been incredibly busy lately with all the changes brought about by Boundary Bathrooms becoming part of Online Home Retail, so the temptation was there to crack open a bottle of wine after work as a bit of stress relief! However, I managed to stick to it and didn’t touch a drop of the stuff for the entire month! It’s something I wanted to do anyway, but when I saw the Dryathlon campaign on Facebook I decided that I may as well raise some money for a good cause while I’m at it. It’s a charity that’s extremely close to my heart so I’m thrilled to be able to do my part, I regularly do Race for Life and I hope both of these fundraisers encourage people to do their bit to completely smash cancer!”

Joanne managed to hit her £100 target with ease, but she’s still taking donations on her Just Giving page if anyone feels inclined to chip in. When asked if she’s going to have a small drink to celebrate Joanne replied “Most definitely!” although she also notes that it has made her want to cut down for good.
