Lawrence Teicher, founder of CFO Consulting Services, a leading CFO services provider, comments on an article published by Fox Business on January 2, which reports that 2014 looks very promising for many small businesses.
According to the Fox Business article titled “2014 Looks Rosy for Micro Businesses,” the SurePayroll Small Business Scorecard survey conducted in December shows an increased optimism among small business owners. The article says that over 70 percent of small businesses employing less than 10 employees believe 2014 will be a good year for business compared to only 55 percent in the previous year.
In the article, SurePayroll CEO Michael Alter says, “We saw a year of recovery in 2013. Seeing that optimism is higher going into 2014 gives us reason to believe small business owners are confident about the future, which typically results in increased hiring and growth.”
Lawrence Teicher, founder of CFO Consulting Services, a leading CFO services provider, says the past year has hit small businesses hard, especially with the confusion over ObamaCare and Federal Reserve policies. However, Teicher affirms that small businesses will continue to thrive in 2014. “Small businesses are definitely recovering, and I think this year we will see a small business boom,” he says. “Small businesses are hiring more full time employees and contracting less work outside of the office. With more full time employees, this means there will be more money to spend and higher in-office production rates, both essential to the success of business and a growing economy.”
Teicher advises small business owners that are wary about their finances in the New Year to seek help from a professional. “If you were not pleased with your results in 2013 or are concerned about how well your company will perform this year, it might be a good idea to engage a part time CFO. We can help you decide the next steps to optimize your business.”
