Little Rock, AR (PRWEB) January 24, 2011

The Case Management Society of America (CMSA) will hold its 21st Annual Conference & Expo to bring together leaders in the field of healthcare case management for a comprehensive overview of this rapidly expanding area of collaborative patient care. The event will be held in San Antonio, Texas, from June 14 – 17, 2011, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

The Annual Conference & Expo is a collaboration of multi-disciplinary professionals, including nurses, social workers, behavioral health practitioners, pharmacists, physicians, and other patient advocates who are dedicated to the support and advancement of the case management profession through educational forums, networking opportunities, legislative advocacy and standards establishment.

“This year’s conference is particularly important,” said Teri Treiger, RN-C, MA, CCM, CCP, President of CMSA. “Advances in technology and research are quickly helping to reveal case managers as change agents in health care. Case managers have long been key initiators of and participants in the health care team who help open up new areas of thought, research and development. We are definitely working our way toward the day when every American will know what a case/care manager does and will know how to access case and care management services.”

Conference keynote speakers include Dr. Bill Crounse, MD, Senior Director for Worldwide Health at Microsoft Corporation, who will discuss the opportunities and risks of e-health changes for case managers and their patients. Other keynote presenters will be Donna Brazile, adjunct professor, author, syndicated columnist, television political commentator, and veteran Democratic political strategist; Suzanne Mintz, MS, President /CEO of National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA); and the 2010 recipient of CMSA's Lifetime Achievement Award, Catherine Mullahy, RN, BS, CRRN, CCM, President of Mullahy & Associates, a case management consulting and training organization.

Conference sessions and programs will feature topics relevant to the impact of electronic processes and communication and various disciplines that stand at the intersection of information science, computer science, and health care, and the subsequent effects on health care reform, best practices, program outcomes, consumer issues, information technology, public policy, and advances in treatment modalities.
