San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 30, 2012
For the first time in 47 years of doing business, Irvine-based LPA Inc. is named California Design Firm of the Year, by industry magnate, Engineering News-Record. According to ENR California Editor Robert Carlsen, LPA rose three spots in this year's Top Design Firms ranking – from No. 20 last year to No. 17 this year – as revenues climbed 11%, to $48.2 million, a notable accomplishment in a still-tough architectural market. What also sets LPA apart is its deep green character. For example, more than 80% of its 200 employees are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professionals.
“This is great recognition for the company and for what we are doing as an integrated design* firm,” says LPA President Dan Heinfeld. “Sustainability is one of the best things to happen to the design industry – our clients have appreciated the immediate benefits and long term value it has allowed us to give in a difficult marketplace.”
California’s Design Firm of the Year is selected by the editors of ENR’s regional publications, with a focus on firms with notable accomplishments, impressive projects, high-profile project contracts, and growth in the annual Top Design Firms list.
A quiet, visionary business, LPA expanded its offices in both Irvine and San Diego, Calif. last year – the latter located within the historic Wonder Bread Building, a former commercial bakery constructed in 1898. The firm has received an unprecedented 35 years of continuous recognition from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Orange County Chapter – taking home six of the chapter’s 16 awards (for more, check out Who in O.C. designs the coolest buildings?). LPA has left its footprints, or shall we say blueprints, across the state with a bevy of interesting projects, of few of which include:
With extensive experience in public and private architecture, LPA designs a diversity of facilities that span from K-12 schools, colleges and universities, to civic, corporate, religious and retail establishments. The firm provides architectural, sustainability, planning, interior design, landscape architecture, graphics, and engineering services, which include structural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering.
*Design collaboration with both internal and external project partners, a key part of LPA's green strategy.
