Cambridge Introduces New High-Performance Drag Mats for Improved Aeration and Grooming of Sports Fields

Design improvements represent the most dramatic advancements in years for better grooming of sports fields, turf, sand and clay surfaces.

As the first new innovation in years in this product category, the ingenious design of Cambridge drag mats features a heavier rod - 11 gauge instead of the conventional 13 gauge - along with a clinched edge instead of the conventional smashed edge. These design enhancements increase the strength of the mats and also prevents distortion. The result: virtual elimination of the snagging that is typically experienced when using drag mats to groom fields.

Another benefit of the new Cambridge product is its increased functionality. The company's new, patent-pending Rivet-Free U-Bar design allows for a truly reversible mat, with no more rivets digging into the surface of the field or turf if the mat is used the "wrong" way. This is a major new benefit for users. Moreover, as a result of this new design, rigid mats can be assembled easily in just minutes.

According to Michael Truitt, director of turf mat technology, the new Cambridge drag mat design is the result of listening to customers' concerns. In developing it new product design, the company researched the views of a wide variety of grounds-keepers and turf managers, including college- and pro-level baseball, football, soccer, rugby, polo, as well as golf courses and country clubs.
