We’re anticipating the same excitement for Black Cow® as we experienced with the exclusive launch of Bonomo Turkish Taffy® on our site last June, says Greg Balestrieri, CEO of Candy.com.
Batavia, IL (PRWEB) February 25, 2011
Nostalgic Black Cow chocolate-caramel candy has returned after a 25-year retirement period, and is available exclusively at the online candy retailer Candy.com through April 1. The exclusive launch is part of an online marketing campaign for the manufacturer Classic Caramel, a subsidiary of The Warrell Corporation.
Candy.com’s launch includes Black Cow® 1.5-ounce bars, which ship in 24-count boxes (retail price is $29.95 per box), as well as Black Cow Bite-Size pieces, which ship 216 pieces per changemaker tub (retail price is $31.95 per tub). Products will begin shipping on March 15, 2011.
“Originally, Black Cow® was a Slo Poke® caramel dipped into a compound chocolate,” says Rich Warrell, director of sales and marketing for Classic Caramel, a subsidiary of The Warrell Corporation and current manufacturer of Black Cow® and Slo Poke® brands. “Our version is a firmer, full-flavored caramel with real chocolate in the piece itself—like a much richer Tootsie Roll®, which is also a type of a chocolate caramel.”
Since their beginning in the mid-1920s, sister candy brands Black Cow® and Slo Poke® have changed manufacturers multiple times before finally landing in Classic Caramel’s Camp Hill, PA, facility. Both brands will be available in the new 1.5-ounce bar and bite-sized formats.
“We’re anticipating the same excitement for Black Cow® as we experienced with the exclusive launch of Bonomo Turkish Taffy® on our site last June,” says Greg Balestrieri, CEO of Candy.com. “From preliminary feedback we’ve received on our Facebook/candydotcom fan page, it’s all systems go.”
