CarHistory.us.org is launching an initiative to direct people to the right resources to contact if they feel they were scammed during a recent used car purchase, the company said yesterday.
“Most people have no idea what to do if they feel they were scammed in a used car purchase,” a CarHistory.us.org spokesman said. “Many feel that they have no recourse at all. The truth is that there are many agencies out there that can help the victims of used car scams, so we want to do what we can to point people in the right direction when this happens.”
CarHistory.us.org got the idea from one of the most common questions their customer service staff receives, which is what to do if they have already been scammed.
“While we can't offer legal advice ourselves, we are capable of providing the resources that will point people in the right direction if they feel they have been scammed,” he said. “There are many private and public resources that exist simply to help scam victims. We'll let people know where they are and how to contact them.”
CarHistory.us.org has put the resources together by working with a myriad of different consumer groups, he said.
“We'll make the resources available first on our members' area,” he said. “Then we will release them through social media and our blog. We feel that this is the least we can do to help out people who have been scammed.”
