Chip & Pepper Cut Loose

Los Angeles (Vocus/PRWEB ) January 14, 2009 -- Los Angeles-based designers and identical twin brothers, Chip and Pepper Foster have officially taken back control of their premium denim and apparel company, Chip & Pepper.

After experimenting since 2005 with various corporate structures and business models, the brothers have decided to take back control of the creative direction and operations of the privately owned company.

"It just made sense for us to regain control of our company," said Pepper Foster. "In the current economy it is all about guerilla style business and keeping things home-grown."

To get things rolling Chip and Pepper opened up experimental pop-up shops for the holiday season in Kenora, Canada and on Melrose Avenue in the affluent boutique neighborhood west of Crescent Heights Blvd. The stores and the overwhelming response to their holiday sale on www.chipandpepper.com was the best year in sales. In response to the success of the stores and online sales the boys have decided to open up a pop-up shop in Malibu and expand chipandpepper.com to interact more with the Chip & Pepper consumer.

With plans to focus on the brand's premium roots and national popularity, the Foster's plan to essentially re-launch the brand for fall 2009.

Chip Foster added, "As the last premium denim company to still manufacture in Los Angeles, we feel like bakers of denim; standing at a hot oven, hand-crafting the best jeans available. The hands-on approach is what's needed in this economy and we couldn't be more excited to be free to do things exactly as we see fit."

In addition, Chip and Pepper have a slew of projects in the works, including licenses with their C7P diffusion line of denim, Foster Jeans plus size denim for JC Penney stores, and much more.

About Chip & Pepper:
From clothing lines and music videos, to barbecue sauce and cartoons, identical twin brothers, Chip and Pepper Foster have done it all--with energy that makes most heads spin. In 2003, the identical twins, originally from Canada, launched the premium vintage denim line called Chip & Pepper. The line's popularity has expanded to include maternity, kids, knitwear, hats, leather goods, and sportswear. The brand also includes Chip & Pepper University, a high-end T-shirt line incorporating vintage and original logos from more than 75 universities around the nation. Chip & Pepper is sold through select department and specialty stores in more than 42 countries, as well as in its retail locations in New York City's NoLita neighborhood, Dallas and Newport Beach, CA.

In 2007, Chip and Pepper announced the launch of C7P, A Chip and Pepper Production with department store giant JC Penney. The California surf lifestyle inspired women's junior line of denim and sportswear is sold exclusively at JC Penney. Chip and Pepper's Production C7P and Foster Jeans friendly wallet prices have seen a boost in sales due to a consumer's need to be fashionable but on a budget. C7P and Foster Jeans' high quality denim and design has drawn all types of shoppers to JC Penney, and has even attracted major designers to create collections for JC Penney.

Prior to delving into denim, the brothers opened Golf Punk, bringing high-end vintage trends to Melrose. In the 1980's, Chip and Pepper's knack for fashion became evident, when selling Chip and Pepper t-shirts out of the back of their truck turned into a multi-million dollar business. They've hosted a cartoon show in LA, "The Look for Less" on E! Entertainment and the Style Network, and served as fashion correspondents for Extra, where they have covered everything from fashion week to landing Jessica Simpson's first post divorce on-camera interview.
