Fort Worth Company Turns Broken Christmas Lights Into Books For Children

Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) Christmas Light Source (Christmas-Light-Source.com) is a Fort Worth, Texas company with an exciting answer for what to do with your old, broken Christmas lights that will benefit you, the environment and children during the Christmas Holidays.

Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) October 14, 2008 -- Christmas Light Source is premiering its 2008 Christmas Lights Recycling Program. The program has been created to turn tangled unwanted Christmas lights into books for children at Christmas.

"We kept getting calls about recycling lights, so we did our homework and came up with a plan", comments Shellie Gardner, Co-owner, Christmas Light Source, an online Christmas lights retailer.

Customers can send in their broken Christmas light sets and they will be turned over in bulk to a recycler willing to work with bulbs and cords. The recycler pays a few cents per pound for the lights. These proceeds will be used to purchase books from Usborne Books. Usborne features a 50% matching program so each $1.00 generated by recycling the lights will result in $1.50 in books.

"Our boys love their Usborne books more than any others in our home and we give them almost exclusively at birthdays and Christmas so we thought that this would be a great way to help get children reading", says Shellie.

Faced with the issue of how to get the books to children, Christmas Light Source has decided to donate the books to the Marine Toys for Tots Program. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation's mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December of each year and distribute them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community.

To encourage people to participate in the recycling program, anyone sending in lights will receive an email with a coupon code good for 10% off a single order of Christmas lights. (One rebate per household.)

"We are proud to roll out this program for 2008. We think it's a win for us, our customers, the environment, and the kids who will benefit at Christmas."
