Inglewood, CA (PRWEB) November 15, 2012
The Church of Scientology of Inglewood and the Scientology Community Center of South Los Angeles marked the anniversary of their first year of service to parishioners and the local community with a gala celebration November 10.
Hosted at the L. Ron Hubbard Community Auditorium and emceed by Community Affairs Director Frizell Clegg, the event featured musical performances by The Way to Happiness Jazz Band led by Bob Sullivan, and solo performances by trumpeter Haji Akbar, Cuban jazz violinist Dayren Santamaria, and local vocalist Ashleigh Rae.
“The first Scientology Church in Inglewood began 10 years ago in a storefront on Market Street. Now we have two facilities totaling over 60,000 square feet–the main building on 315 S. Market Street and our Community Center here on South Vermont Avenue,” said Juan Bogan, Executive Director for the Church of Scientology Inglewood.
Bogan presented awards to Inglewood residents Robert Cantin, Sheila Hagen and Patricia Harris, who laid the groundwork for the new Church through ten years of dedicated service in bringing Scientology and its social betterment programs to Inglewood. He also acknowledged local religious leaders Bishop Franklin Harris, Minister Tony Muhammad and Rev. Alfreddie Johnson for their outstanding contributions to the community.
The Church of Scientology of Inglewood, located at 315 S. Market Street, and the Community Center at 8039 South Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, are open seven days a week, providing life improvement courses and social outreach programs to people of all denominations.
