Pacific Prime clients have recently gained a new flexible choice for medical cover with Cigna's new Global Health Options Plan, which allows clients to customize their level of cover to their particular healthcare and monetary situation.
The new options, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, have replaced the previous Cigna Global Health Options and Advance Plans. The new plan from Cigna seems to be a direct response to the increasing demand in the IPMI market for more flexible medical care options at affordable prices.
The flexibility of the Cigna plan can be found with the different levels of cover, the option for cost-sharing, and the different deductible levels. Cancer and psychiatric care, inpatient, accommodation, and specialist costs are all covered under the basic level. Clients who require added options for their specific medical situation have access to the following modules: Outpatient, Medical Evacuation, Health and Well-being, and Vision and Dental.
Many long-term international medical insurance plans currently in the market are extremely rigid, and clients end up paying for cover that may not be applicable to their situation. For example, many plans include cover for Dental even though the client might not need to visit a dentist on a regular basis. One of the most effective ways to lower one's premium is to find a flexible plan which allows you to only pay for the cover you need.
Flexible plans also give insurers the ability to lower costs and appeal to clients at different ends of the market. Cigna saw a gap in the market for high-quality international medical plans that are both flexible and affordable.
Pacific Prime analysts are curious to see how their clients will respond to the new Cigna Global Health Options plan. If this new Cigna plan performs well in the market, it can be expected that other major international insurers will follow suit with their own flexible medical insurance plans.
