Clearly Contacts, Canada's largest online optical store, has introduced progressive eyeglasses to its ever expanding line of vision care products. The company announced the launch of progressive lens eyewear targeted to the "baby boom" generation, as a follow up to the wildly successful single vision eyeglasses launch in February, 2008. Presbyopia is a common eye condition where individuals experience a reduced ability to focus on near objects. Symptoms normally surface between the ages of 40-50.
"Modern technology in the manufacture of lenses has progressed to a point where superior quality progressive lenses can be produced at a fraction of their previous costs," says Clearly Contacts CEO and Co-Founder, Roger Hardy. "And at Clearly Contacts we recognise opportunities like this to expand our product line and offer high quality vision enhancement products to the public at a substantial savings."
Based upon manufacturers data collected in the United States, more than a quarter of all eyeglasses sold annually utilize progressive lenses. Gone are the days when bi-focal lenses were separated by that thin line dividing the near and far sighted features, essentially two lenses fused together to serve a dual purpose. Gone also are those thumb print sized ovals down in the corner of the lens where the near sighted ratios were configured.
In addition to the increased attractiveness of progressives, the true multifocal capability of the lens provides a seamless progression of different lens powers for all distances in-between the wearer's near and far sighted configurations. This feature creates a more natural correction of presbyopia.
Roger Hardy is extremely proud of Clearly Contact's latest advance into progressive lens eyeglasses. "Traditional bi-focals tend to produce what's known as 'image jump' as the eye changes focus from near to far. But with progressive lenses the change is smooth and more natural for the wearer."
In the last several years there has been a veritable explosion in the purchase of progressive lenses as the technology has made them seamless and affordable. Clearly Contacts is pleased to be able to offer progressive eyeglasses that begin as low as $137.00 for conventional progressive lenses up to $199.00 for free form lens technology.
"No longer will consumers have to pay $800 to $1200 for high quality progressive lens eyeglasses," reiterates Roger Hardy. "Our goal is to change the vision care industry by eliminating the middle man and providing consumers with the highest quality products and prices they can afford."
