Local Filmmaker/Collins College Instructor Tackles Tough Immigration Issues in New Film, 'Border Wars'

Released Nationally to Major DVD Outlets Today

Tempe, AZ (Vocus/PRWEB ) August 26, 2008 -- Ryan Noble, independent filmmaker and film instructor at Collins College, wrote, directed and produced "Border Wars," a story about illegal immigration. The Arizona-produced movie is being released today on DVD to a number of major retail outlets throughout the country, including Amazon, Netflix and Blockbuster.

"Border Wars" explores radical, racially-charged views toward illegal Mexicans. The film follows three aggressive young men who take it upon themselves to police the Arizona border for illegal immigrants in order to protect their perceived ideals of American values.

"Border Wars" was filmed in Arizona, outside of Phoenix in the West Valley. Noble used 12 Collins film students and graduates on the production. Students were involved in a number of positions, including operating cameras, lights and audio. All of the actors in it are Arizona-based. The entire movie was filmed over an intense, 12-day period with crews working 12 to 18-hour days. Noble oversaw the editing and sound mixing. To complete the 85-minute movie, Noble had access to Collins' film studio and equipment.

Noble has written and produced a number of other movies, but this is his first narrative film. The subjects of other documentaries produced by Noble include Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, an Indian Tribe in Central Mexico and Kareem Adbul-Jabbar.

"As a career-focused art and film school, we encourage our instructors to remain professionally active in the areas they teach. With the expansion of our new film facility, 14th Street Studio, our instructors and students have more opportunities to participate in career-related projects outside of school. We are also proud of the fact that the film was entirely shot in Arizona with local talent and film crews," said Tim Dosemagen, Ed.D., provost Collins College.
