Austin, Texas (PRWEB) November 17, 2008 -- New start-up company Convey Computer Corporation plans to make a significant contribution to the HPC industry right from the beginning. At this week's SC08 conference the company will participate in a number of technical presentations, launch the company and its first product, and be honored with two industry awards. First, Convey Chief Scientist and industry notable Steve Wallach gave the keynote address "Processor Architecture: Past, Present, Future" to the attendees of the second international workshop on High Performance Reconfigurable Computing Technology and Applications (HPRCTA) held in conjunction with SC08 at 8:30 a.m. this morning.

This evening, the company was honored with a 2008 HPCwire Readers' and Editors' Choice Award as one of the Top 5 Vendors to Watch in 2009.

Tomorrow at 3:30 p.m., Steve Wallach will moderate and present "High Performance Proteomics Applications Boosted with Convey's New Way of Computing," a joint exhibitor forum panel between University of California, San Diego and Convey.

On Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., Wallach will give his Plenary session for the Seymour Cray Award: Processor Architecture: Past, Present, and Future

At 11:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, Convey CTO and company co-founder Tony Brewer will present: Hybrid-Core Computing: Extending Intel Xeon Architectures for Application Specific Environments at the Intel Theater (booth #1609).

Finally, SC08 caps off for Convey with IEEE's presentation of the prestigious Seymour Cray Award to Steve Wallach at 1:30 p.m.

Throughout the show, Convey executives will talk about the technological breakthroughs of the Convey HC-1™ both at Convey's booth #1753 and at the University of California, San Diego's booth #568.

Steve Wallach also contributed a C3 chip from Convex Computer Corp. to SC08's lobby history museum celebrating 20 years of the progression of high performance computing which opens Monday at 7:00 p.m.
