Downtown and the award-winning and nationally-recognized Corpus Christi Marina will sparkle at the 27th annual Harbor Lights Festival on December 5, 2009. Come watch as Corpus Christi rings in the holiday season with a lighting ceremony for the 75-foot Tree of Lights in downtown Corpus Christi. It doesn’t end there; the Harbor Lights Festival features a laser light show and a one-of-a-kind Illuminated Boat Parade. Watch as hundreds of boats adorned in twinkling lights float through Corpus Christi Bay against the setting sun and a darkening sky. Santa will even make an appearance when his motorcade comes prancing or in this case, roaring into town. Visitors can also enjoy a Children’s Parade, a tree village, a children’s area and an entertainment stage at this unique celebration. Come ooh and awe as Corpus Christi’s beautiful skyline and bayfront marina illuminate for the season.

Outdoor lovers will discover the opportunity to commune with nature. The Whooping Cranes spend their winters at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge north of Corpus Christi giving visitors a unique peek at these endangered birds that migrate to the Coastal Bend each winter. They aren’t the only birds in the area this season, not by a long shot. Corpus Christi sits on the migrational pathway bringing hundreds of birds to the area during their flights south for the winter.

An outdoor enthusiast can enjoy double helpings of fishing and hunting in the Coastal Bend during the winter. Visitors can experience the cast and blast opportunities with the start of dove season until the end of duck season while hunter and angler packages come at bargain prices. In Corpus Christi, it’s outdoors all year.

Sailing and water sports are other year round options. Corpus Christi is also one of the prime locations in the nation to breeze across the water under sail with prevailing winds that average 15 to 25 knots annually. Thrill seekers are encouraged to join the thousands of visitors from around the world for the ultimate experience of windsurfing, kite boarding and parasailing. You will find that if it has a sail on it and it belongs in the water, you are sure to find it on the Corpus Christi Bay. Several windsurfing and kite boarding shops in the area give lessons and provide convenient equipment rentals for visitors year round.

There’s something for everyone. Visitors can explore over miles and miles of the Padre Island National Seashore, shake fins with the bottlenose dolphins at the Texas State Aquarium, or catch a glimpse of the past and tour the replicas of the Christopher Columbus fleet at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science & History. Tourists can enjoy bird-watching and botanical hikes at the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center or learn the ancient art of origami at the Texas State Asian Cultures Museum. Millions of visitors step aboard one of the most famous aircraft carriers in U.S. Naval history each year in Corpus Christi and watch a movie in the MEGA Theater or fly an F/A-18 Hornet in a simulator at the U.S.S. Lexington Museum by the Bay.

So grab your family or friends and head to Corpus Christi where it’s Waves, Wings and Wildlife all year round! Check out our coupons online and plan your Corpus Christi vacation at www.VisitCorpusChristiTX.org.
