The Cotran Brothers Announce the Opening of US Optical LLC
US Optical to specialize in the High Tech manufacturing of FreeForm Progressive Eyeglass prescription Lenses.
Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) February 29, 2008 -- The Cotran brothers (Ralph, Ronald and Robert) have returned to the wholesale optical industry with their new company US Optical LLC, to specialize in the latest technology in eyeglass lens prescription manufacturing known as FreeForm or Digital manufacturing. US Optical will be one of the first wholesale manufacturers in Central New York and throughout the United States to specialize in this latest optical technology.
"FreeForm manufacturing maps the complete design of a Progressive lens (No line bifocal) as well as a patient's prescription and digitally transfers both on the back surface of a lens blank." The end result is that a patient's eyeglasses are ten times more precise as the complete prescription is molded on the back of the lens-and closer to the eye.
US Optical has received patent licenses to manufacture FreeForm lenses from Seiko Optical Products of America, Inc., and Shamir Insight, Inc. as well as manufacturing and distribution rights from Carl Zeiss Vision, Inc., Signet Armolite, Inc., Hoya Lens Of America, Inc., Younger Optics, Vision- Ease Lens Corporation, Xcell Optical Company, and Polycore Optical. US Optical's lenses will be available through retail stores in Central New York and nationwide. US Optical has a new 12,000 square foot state of the art facility in East Syracuse, New York equipped with the latest in digital optical manufacturing robotic technology.
About the Cotrans:
Almost fifteen years ago the Cotran brothers created the overnight service on the manufacturing of Progressive lenses with Anti Reflection coatings. They will do the same 24 hour service for the more optically advanced FreeForm Digital Progressive lenses with Zeiss Anti Reflection coatings. This will allow the retail dispensers to provide more precise optics and faster service to the consumer. Because of the better optics the consumer will adapt to this FreeForm Progressive (No line bifocal) almost instantly. Rejection rates will be close to zero.
The Cotran brothers have been in the Optical business for over twenty years and founded Optogenics of Syracuse in 1986 and grew it into a substantial operation before selling it to Essilor of America in 1999. They continued to manage this company for Essilor until they left in April 2007 to establish US Optical.
