Crabtree & Evelyn Collaborates with Renowned Artist Su Blackwell

Through the Crabtree & Evelyn windows I was trying to achieve a sense of the magic inherent at Christmas.

This season, Crabtree & Evelyn collaborated with renowned paper craft artist Su Blackwell for the design of their Enchanted Christmas windows.

Su has created a unique book sculpture for Crabtree & Evelyn depicting a fairytale winter wonderland which was then photographed and used to convey the excitement and wonder of Christmastime. The photographs have been accompanied by free standing paper pine trees and whimsical illustrative elements to further bring the three dimensional aspect of Su’s sculpture to life.

”I often work within the realm of fairy-tales and folk-lore. I began making a series of book-sculpture, cutting-out images from old books to create three-dimensional dioramas, and displaying them inside wooden boxes”, explained Su. “Through the Crabtree & Evelyn windows I was trying to achieve a sense of the 'magic' inherent at Christmas''.

Notes to editors: Notes Su is an artist and art director, and has worked on advertising campaigns for Volvo and the Cartier Store, Paris as well as art-work for Elle UK, Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Her fine-art work was exhibited at the Museum of Art and Design, New York last year, and is currently on display at The Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth, West Yorkshire.
