Washington DC (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 30, 2009 -- The U.S. African Chamber of Commerce congratulates President Barack Obama who will sign wide-ranging, pro-consumer credit card reforms into law by late May, senior U.S. House Democrat Carolyn Maloney predicted on Wednesday.
Martin Mohammed, President of the USACC, said that there is need for stronger consumer protection and financial education. Families are not only dealing with creditors but also collections, financial scams, family budgets and other financially-related issues.
Democrats, on behalf of the Obama administration, are expected to introduce a set of amendments including requiring card issuers to maintain low introductory teaser rates on credit cards for at least six months, and to warn card holders if they are about to exceed their credit limits, allowing them to avoid a penalty fee.
The USACC is the Leading Advocacy Organization for U.S. African Relations and promotes Emerging Markets. The USACC is the umbrella organization for African Chambers of Commerce and Professional Trade and Business Associations throughout the United States and abroad.
